Below are some of our favorite spots to run in and around HVL—from easy, in-town paths to routes with a bit more elevation and adventure.
Oklawaha Greenway
Location and Parking
The Oklawaha Greenway is a favorite among locals, known for its beautiful scenery and accessibility. You can park at Patton Park or Berkeley Park for easy access to this well-maintained greenway network.
Difficulty and Terrain
This greenway offers a flat and paved surface, making it perfect for runners looking for a leisurely jog or a fast-paced run.

Osceola Lake Loop
Location and Parking
Start your run at the Hendersonville YMCA and head to Osceola Lake for a loop around the water.
Difficulty and Terrain
The loop is a combination of road and gravel paths, providing a gentle and scenic route for runners. This loop is nearly six miles from the Y - around the lake and back to the Y.

Experience the beauty of Hendersonville’s lake in the city - Osceola Lake! As you run, say hi to the locals. This is a popular spot for walking, jogging and running fast loops.
Lake Summit
Location and Parking
Park at the Tuxedo parking lot to access the Lake Summit loop.
Difficulty and Terrain
This nearly 10-mile loop consists mostly of gravel and dirt roads, with two hills but primarily flat terrain around the lake.
A Long-Distance Challenge
Lake Summit’s loop offers runners a longer route with scenic lake views, ideal for those seeking a bit more distance in their run.
Carl Sandburg Home
Location and Parking
The Carl Sandburg Home offers ample parking and is renowned for its historical significance.
Trail Difficulty and Terrain
Enjoy a mix of trails, gravel and dirt roads and hills, providing both easy and challenging runs within a historical setting. There are approximately 3-4 miles of runnable surfaces in and around the Carl Sandburg Home.
History and Nature Combine
Running here allows you to explore the trails once walked by the poet Carl Sandburg, adding a unique touch to your workout.
The Park at Flat Rock
Location and Parking
The Park at Flat Rock offers easy parking and an inviting and safe atmosphere for runners.
Difficulty and Terrain
Featuring tiny, crushed rock paths, The Park at Flat Rock provides a smooth, nice two mile loop for runners of all abilities. The running surface allows your body to take a break from road running on a softer surface, without having to worry about large rocks or roots or hills! .
A Community Favorite
Known for its beautiful surface and friendly atmosphere, this park is a go-to spot for local runners that want to zone out and just run without the worry of getting lost, major hills or tripping over rocks or roots. .
The Ecusta Trail
Location and Parking
Anticipate a 19-mile trail connecting Hendersonville to Brevard, with multiple access points planned along the route. Parking at the Ecusta Market and Cafe, Downtown Hendersonville at the Visitors Center or at Southern Streams coffee shop. If you are coming from Horse Shoe - you can park in the lot by Packa’s Place and run/walk towards Hendersonville.
Difficulty and Terrain
Paved greenway surface, mostly flat will provide plenty of miles for locals and visitors to the area to enjoy. The trail is a ‘false flat’ so you can definitely ‘feel’ like you are running ‘up hill’ even though it appears flat!
Future Scenic Adventure
Currently there are approx 6 miles of trail finished. Once completed, the Ecusta Trail will offer an expansive running experience through gorgeous landscapes and will cover 21 miles from Downtown Hendersonville to Downtown Brevard.
Bill Moore Community Park (Fletcher Park)
Location and Parking
Located in Fletcher, just a short drive from Hendersonville and Arden, this spacious park is easy to access and has plenty of parking near the main playground and walking trail loop. The park entrance is just off Howard Gap Road and is clearly marked.
Difficulty and Terrain
The main running loop is about 1 mile for easy laps and interval workouts. You can also link onto the Cane Creek Greenway to add a few extra miles.
A Runner’s Go-To Loop
Fletcher Park is a favorite for runners looking for a no-stress, consistent loop with good visibility and community energy. The loop is flat, scenic, and great for solo runs or meetups, especially when you just want to get it done without thinking about traffic, hills, or directions.
